Question

Captivate 8 repeats slide obsessively, like a loop

The slides in question are MP4's inserted into a project.  The MP4 was created in Captivate and it is a video demonstration of a web site.  They play multiple times when they should only play once.  Is this a bug?   (I was able to get one to work properly after re-making the video entirely and importing it into the project again, but have two other slides that are malfunctioning.

Thanks,

Deborah

I've been experiencing a similar issue in cp8 as well. It's only on a particular slide with an mp4. The video plays fine, audio and all, but rather than advancing to the next slide right away, the video loops about 2 or 3 times first. My friend and I have been beating our heads against the wall for several weeks on this.

I am running a Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 and he is running Yosemite. The looping issue is only on my end of troubleshooting and he cannot replicate the problem on his side. We're both running the module on Google Chrome 43 (also, seems to be the only browser that the looping is occurring on).

We've tried experimenting with buttons near the end of the video in an attempt to force it to pause before continuing. We've tried pulling the video out - then re-publishing it in premiere and re-importing. We've gone into javascript to make it autoplay in chrome by replacing noteOn with "start" and noteOff with "stop". We've even started from scratch in a new project, replacing the content from each slide - just incase it was something happening in that particular file.

We work with video in cp8 quite a bit, but lately it has only been this project and one other recent project that has done this. We have a hunch that it may have to do with a Google Chrome update not playing nice with Adobe (we searched the date on the last chrome update and it was about a day or two before we started having these issues) - but I have no idea what to do about it from here.

Was there ever a resolution on this?

I am using captivate 8 and just had this happen.  I have a course that has existed for a while (more than a year).  I updated the course recently.  I made no changes to the slide with the video, but when I published it and viewed (still on my hard drive), it plays the video 2 or 3 times, then moves on to the next slide and proceeds with the rest of the course.  The last slide contains another video and it does the same thing.

I tried deleting the video and adding it again (Media>Video>Multi-Slide Synchronized Video).  I deleted the slide and create a new one. None of these worked.   After reading the above post, I checked and this is happening in Chrome, but not Firefox or Edge.  I also checked the prior version of the video, still published on our web server and it did not repeat the video when viewing in Chrome.

So strange and random.

I've experienced the same or similar issue. Seems to make no difference which codec is selected when the MP4 is published, if the MP4 is fullsize or scaled, or if audio is included.

The MP4 play once or twice before advancing. If audio is included, it does not play when the MP4 replays. The player does not advance when the MP4 loops, and the duration of the course is not updated while the MP4 repeats.

I first saw this issue when 8.0 came out, the 8.01 update did not fix it. I think it is a bug.

I reported to Adobe in January.
