Captivate 8 will not show embedded videos in published playback

I'm using Captivate 8 to develop a CBT with several .mp4 videos in it. I want the user to be able to play each video individually on the slide, and there can be up to 3 video clips per slide.

I can see them in the preview, and they function as expected in the preview. I used progressive download, and lengthened the duration of the slide to accommodate the video time.

WHY ARE THESE NOT SHOWING IN THE PUBLISHED FILE?! Does Captivate now require all videos be external instead of embedded?  (Which would royally SUCK...so hoping NOT)

HELP ME>>>PRETTY PLEASE!

Captivate does not embed/nest videos inside SWF files anymore.  That has been the case for many versions now.

And HTML5 is really no different.

If you are having difficulties getting the videos to play locally the issues will usually be due to Flash Global Security or browser security restrictions.  You may need to upload to a web server to test properly.

If the content from Cp8 is not playing videos from the web server, the usual reason is that the web server is not set up to serve the MP4 mimetype.

My apologies, poor choice of words...

I had been referring to the zipped package, with video files included, that allow them to be "embedded". It ended up being a Browser issue. Thank you for your reply!

Sincerely,

Catherine

Hi Catherine,

Have you uploaded the published file to an LMS or web server? They won't play locally. If you have and still have issues let me know.

Cheers,
Steve

Thank you for your reply!

It ended up being a browser issue. IE needed updated Java and ActiveX Controls. We had to request the update from IT.
