Captivate 8 Won't Insert Interactive Learning Widgets
I've spent two days trying to get Captivate to allow me to insert a youtube video or allow use of other interactive learning widgets within Windows 8.1. Mostly captivate runs fine otherwise and I can go 3-4 hours w/o any problems outside of the interactive learning widgets not being available...occasionally it might slow down for a few seconds, but generally no issues.
Note that captivate was installed as part of the latest TCS suite update. Creative Cloud with just photoshop/lightroom is also installed.
Unfortunately, it hangs as soon as the widget is selected for insertion - not even giving the chance to customize the widgets.
What I've tried:
- Starting new projects with just one blank slide, clicking interactive learning, selecting youtube widget...(hang)
- Forcing run as administrator
- Forcing run with Win7 Compatibility Mode on
- Reinstalling the Adobe Learning Assets Package
- Adding local storage exceptions to the flash player
- Rebooting computer
- Clearing Cache
- Deleting local preferences folder
- Deleting other local captivate user settings folders and restarting
- Adding the adobe server ip addresses as allowed exceptions on the local firewall to ensure there isn't a network communication issue.
- Reinstalling Captivate
What I haven't tried yet:
- Reinstalling Windows (honestly, I'll just give up on Tech Comm Suite if this is the case..all I needed was framemaker and acrobat before which were available without subscription...I just thought using captivate would be helpful for some students I work with and it would make sense to have a continual subscription to the one suite with the products I use.)
- Disabling the OS firewall (it is ESET Endpoint Security which is relatively common for small business windows deployments that don't find norton/symantec/mcaffe worth paying for) or the builtin windows firewall sufficient.
