Captivate 9 and dependency on Microsoft C++ 2005 Redistributable

The security folks at our location has brought up a concern regarding our Captivate 7 software and the dependency it has on Microsoft C++ 2005 Redistributable software. There is a security vulnerability with Microsoft ++ 2005 redistributable package and a patch has been created by Microsoft to fix the vulnerability.

Is Adobe going to change this dependency on  C++ 2005? I am being told that the latest version of Captivate, version 9 still has this dependency.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My desire is to stay with Captivate however the security vulnerabilities may provide me no choice.

    I am still looking for an update. Does anyone have a contact from Adobe that I can reach out to? I have tried Adobe support and they could not answer my question.

    How many courses are you publishing as .exe files?

    It occurs to me that this would probably be the only format with this limitation.

    If you can get validation from an Adobe rep, you may get IT to recognize this vulnerability is mitigated by publishing to an LMS or webserver, rather than .exe files.

    As I understand it, Captivate 7 is dependent on MS C++ 2005 to even load. I am trying to find out if Captivate 9 eliminated this dependency. To answer your post, I only publish to our LMS and do not publish to .exe.
