Hello,

I have Captivate 9.0.2.437, thanks to a recent update.  Since getting the update a couple of days ago, I can no longer paste anything from a slide on one Captivate file to a slide on another Captivate file.

Is the something I can do about this please?

Regards

Hazel

Yes, I can do that.  The images that I want are in a different file though.

Here is alternative: open the file from which you want to copy the images

as External Library (File, Import). Drag the images directly to the slide

or to the Library of the other file.

Did you clean the preferences and delete the Layouts folder in Public documents before installing the patch?

No, I didn't do that.  I wasn't aware that was a good thing to do.  When I logged onto my laptop a couple of mornings ago, a window popped up telling me the updated was available, so I clicked on install.  I didn't even have Captivate open at the time.

Is there something I can do now?

It is always mentioned in the Release notes, which are too much hidden so that almost no one reads them before installing

You can still do it now. Close Captivate, then:

  • If you have Administrator rights, look for the 'utils' subfolder in the Captivate installation folder and run the CleanPreferences file that is fitting your OS. When doing this you could lose some customization items. To keep them, have a look at this blog post: Captivate 8.0.1 Install? Keep your Customisation! - Captivate blog
  • Look in Users\Public\Public Documents\Adobe\eLearning Assets for the folder Layouts and delete that folder. You could also delete the Sample Projects folder but that is less essential. This is the path for a Win system, if you are on Mac it should be somewhere in Shared documents.

When you restart Captivate, a fresh Preferences folder will be created (it is in your profile) and a new copy of the most recent Layouts folder will be made to the Public documents.
