Question

Captivate 9 / Cornerstone /AICC

We are having difficulty launching Captivate 9 courses from Cornerstone using the AICC interface. The course never gets passed the initial loading spinner. Does anyone out there have this configuration for tracking course activity in an LMS?

Thanks in advance.

Had this problem with Cornerstone in publishing something other than Captivate using aicc format. I submitted a ticket to Cornerstone and was told that because our internal server was Http, Cornerstone had implemented new safety protocol that required the server address to be https. We elected to publish to Scorm 1.2. Check your server address and open a case with Cornerstone..however it may just be as easy as publishing to Scorm 1.2. Let us know what the resolve was!

I never use AICC with any LMS myself because SCORM is actually a much more modern standard for LMS integration.

However, if you are having some kind of issue with Cornerstone I suggest you try uploading the same AICC package to SCORM Cloud online LMS to test whether the same launching issue exists there.  If it does, then the issue may be with your content.  If not, the issue is with your LMS and you need to get talking with the technical people from Cornerstone to resolve it.

    Thank you for your feedback.

We are using AICC because our LMS (Cornerstone) is in the cloud and our content is on our local network behind a firewall.

It is our understanding that we need to use AICC for this configuration.

You are correct that this is one (perhaps the only) advantage of using AICC.

However, it might be worth checking whether Cornerstone also supports the new xAPI (Tin Can) standard as this can also (I believe) have content located on a different server.

The clever people at SCORM Cloud have also developed a technology (called Dispatch) that allows you to use Tin Can even if your LMS doesn't support it.

Scorm Cloud Control your content with Dispatch - SCORM Cloud
