Captivate 9 eLearning Brothers Assets: Getting Widgets into Existing Projects

I downloaded an interactive widget from eLearning Brothers via the Assets button in Captivate 9. The video shows how to download it and open it. What it does not show is how to get the widget into my existing project (it's saved as a cptx file). Copy/Paste does not seem to work. Any thoughts on this? I didn't even see instructions on this in their site.

Agreed. The elearning bros instructions for Captivate 9 do not address the matter of widgets for the player skins. The instructions for player skins i could find by elearning bros pertained to CP6 and CP7. And yet the skin widget asset page includes CP9 as a supported software version. So can one use widgets in CP9 for HTML5 output? There seem to be no instructions for such, only for other types of assets.

This makes it seem that Adobe and elearning bros do not have a working relationship, and yet one can access the elearning bros assets directly through the CP9 product. I find this nonsensical.

As I mentioned multiple times, I don't understand the terminology of the eLearning Brothers at all. They use a cptx instead of a cptl to offer templates, they offer cptx instead of a cptim to offer themes, and I have no idea if their 'widgets' (also cptx files) are the widgets in the Captivate terminology (which means SWF output only) or that they are compatible with HTML output for which Captivate uses the term 'Learning Interaction'. Have a look at this blog post, where I tried to explain the difference in the intro:

Tips - Learning Interactions - Captivate blog

I know this answer is not helping you a lot, would love to see more consistency in use of Captivate terminology but consistent terminology seems not only to be a weak point of the eLearning Brothers but of about all books and training about Captivate as well.

I am not using those assets, but in many articles by the eLearning Brothers I see confusing terms concerning the assets. Everything seems to be 'cptx' files whereas themes and widgets should be in the format they are normally used in Captivate. There is a big difference between a theme, a theme color palette and a template, which is totally ignored.

Could you please specify which 'widget' you are talking about? I also did see comments that many of the assets were created for CP8 and are not very well working in CP9.

Yes, they are so confusing! The ones I am using are the "Click to Reveal." The video is helpful and shows how to download and shows how to open as a project, but then it does not say how to put them in an existing project. This is why I've given up and just build my own click and reveal exercises...unless you know how to get them to load in an existing projcet.   It could be moot, though, if they are also not HTML5 compatible.

Should have looked at those assets, but never bothered to do so, prefer largely to create that kind of interactions personally. It is not that hard, especially with CP9 using shared actions (have a script library that I use all the time) and multistate objects.

Are you sure this was a widget or just a template?

Widgets would have a .wdgt file ending, not a CPTX.

The ones downloaded as Assests are saved as .cptx.
