Captivate 9: how do i stop a click box with Continue Playing the Project checked to not auto-advance to the next slide?

Hello,

I have a slide with 3 click boxes, each with the Continue Playing the Project checked. The problem occurs when a user clicks on the click box at the end of the timeline. This results in the slide auto-advancing to the next slide. This only happens when the user clicks a click box at the end of the slide's timeline. If the click box is clicked at any other time, the slide does not advance, which is how it should be. How can I stop the auto-advance from happening?

Nothing worse then instead of answering a question, people basically tell you that you don't know what you are doing and to do it their way. Yes you can use click boxes and not advance the slide. It involves using a simple advanced action but not really that difficult.

Do you understand the timeline and pausing points? I suspect that is the problem.

What do you want to do with those click boxes, please? If you have a simple command triggered by those click boxes and the option 'Continue Playing Project' is checked, the playhead is released and continues. It is totally logical what happens in your case, hence my question: what do you want to do with the click boxes.

Thank you for the quick response. The purpose of the (3) click boxes are for user interaction. Each of these click boxes are overlayed over a text caption. When they click on any of them, a corresponding text caption appears, providing a text example. For example, clicking on a term to show its definition - something like that.

I believe I understand timeline and pausing points. I actually tried to add a pause point (near the end of the timeline)for each click box Property, to try and stop the slide from advancing to the next slide, but that option is not available in Click Box Properties.

Hope you don't mind another tip? Putting a click box over a text caption is a very old workflow. Why not use a shape button? They are available since version 6: you can style them in Captivate (not possible with text captions) and they can be used as text containers as ell. Moreover you have multistate objects in CP9. Why not use the approach that I explained yesterday for another user to show the text? You can have all shape buttons at the same time. Here is the link:
