When I am trying to load a CPTX file that is saved on my c drive- I get an error code- adobe captivate could not open "file name" ensure that the file is not already open, is not damaged, hadr disk has ssufficient space etc. None of these factors are true. I have to log off my computer and restart my computer and then the cptx item will load. The file is definitely not corrupted and I have plenty of space. trying to figure out what is going on?

Thank you for trying to help, but none of those are working. I purchased Captivate 9 in September. I also purchase a book by iconlogic that has files to download and practice with at www.iconlogic.com/pc. The files are all there for anyone to view. I try to open them and can occasionally open one, but never two. Now, even files that I created on my own in Caprivate 9 will not open unless I select  File> open recent and select the file.  This is very frustrating as I am a student and keep getting slowed down because of these issues.

Hi there,

Can you make a copy the .cptx and try opening it. In case if it wont help ,probably you can try retrieving the project from the cache folder by following the below set of instructions.

Recovering the project « Rapid eLearning | Adobe Captivate Blog

Thanks,

Nimmy Sukumaran.

Or, if it's been ages since you cleared out your Project Cache then maybe you need to do that.  The folder could be chock-a-block full.

Hi,

I have the same issue in that I cannot open a cptx file I have been working on for some time. When trying ot open, it provides the same message as 'cindya...' noted. I am running this project from an external hard drive. I had this problem once before on a different project and managed to recover the project from the cache. However, unfortunatley, this time, I had just cleared the cache (because it can take up a lot of space) before the problem arose. Hence I cannot recovr from cache.

Is there any othr way of opening a project that does not want to open?? I really need this project recovered!
