Captivate 9 not recording my mouse movements

I am using captivate 9.  the system is not capturing my mouse movements, even though I have verified that the system IS set up to do so.  BECAUSE the mouse movements are not being recorded, the system is also depositing ALL click boxes in the upper right corner, as well as their hints and failure notices.  Is there any way to fix this?  is this a known issue? HIGHLY FRUSTRATING!!!
