Captivate 9 purchase questions

Hi there,

I'm considering moving from Cap 6 to Cap 9. I understand it will be treated as a "new" purchase rather than an upgrade. Before I invest in it, I needed to get answers to two questions:

1. Can I open older projects in Captivate 9? Specifically projects created in Cap 4,5,6,7, or 8. We have a lot of legacy content that will need to be opened, edited and republished.

2. Can two versions of Captivate be installed on the same computer? Can I have Cap 6 AND Cap 9 on my laptop?

Thanks!

SM

I don't agree that there are no issues with upgrading from 6 to 9, but know since yesterday that BehrTrainer never uses Quiz slides, and those will for sure lead to problems. I also expect issues with advanced actions, maybe with (shape) buttons because so much has changed between 6 and 9. Never try to upgrade a template over so many versions, nor a theme.  You may even have problems opening older projects to upgrade, but you have to be prepared to do a lot of editing and repairing.

It is NOT possible to upgrade older versions: 4 and earlier did support AS2 which is no longer the case after 4. I would not dare to upgrade a version before 6 because 6 introduced design based on themes. It will very probably be impossible to open those projects in 9.

Why will you not upgrade to the most recent version which is CP2017 (10)?

BTW: I have 4 versions installed on my desktop, 2 on my laptop

I am not postive on question 1 especially that far back...I know 7 and 8 to 9 is no problem as I have done it, but older than that I cant speak with any authority.

For 2, you definitely can have both versions on computer....I did this for a long time and it worked great.
