Captivate 9 - Running on a MacBook Air. Can't Apply Effects. Going to Window and checking (Enable Effects in Timeline) should split the Timeline section into two parts. It doesn't. The timeline section flashes, but no Effects Section populates. Also, selecting and right-clicking the text or object on which to apply effect does nothing. the Applied Effects List in the Properties panel is not selectable.

There is no Effects timeline anymore in Captivate 9, maybe it is still wrongly indicated in the Help, didn't check, sorry. That Help documentation causes more confusion than helping IMO. You will never see a splitting of the Timeline at all. What happens now is that if you add an Effect (use right-click menu) to a selected object, the Effect timeline will be inserted in the Timeline panel as a child timeline, at least if you use a Timebased Effect:

Is this the work flow you followed? The effects themselves are not in the Properties but in the Timing panel:

In this screenshot you see the last effect applied. The + sign  next to the field where you see that last effect (Spin) should allow to add another effect to this same object.
