Captivate 9 State View Problem

Hello Sir,

I started a responsive project.  Following is done by me.

1.  Using shape - converted into Back Button

2.  Modified Rollover and Down state.

3.  All well, project checked on the website no problem.

4.  I realised that my Back Button should be little down.

5.  Selected back button and opened properties - Position.

6.  Back Button from Top was 80.2%

7.  I changed it to - from Top 83%.

8.  All well again, everything look good

9.  I did some more minor modifications, and preview project

10.  Everything looks good, but the moment I tried to click my Back Button, it jumped up.  I took cursor up and it went down.  It keep dancing and I failed to click on Back Button.

11. I back to website and check state view.

12.  Under State View - Normal View showed back button position from top 83% but Rollover and Down State showed 80.2% from top.

13.  I tried to change position manually but failed.  Then I opened Properties - Position but only one Option was showing "Smart Position".  I clicked Smart Position and it showed me only Top and Left position.  I tried many things but failed to changed position

14.  Then I realised that I made many changes in Tablet Mode and Mobile Mode to accomodate various shapes button and was shocked to see that all were giving me different states in rollover state.

15.  FINAL NOTE:  Since my whole work was completed nicely but rollover state spoiled my 2 days hard work.  What I did is selected each shape button, uncheck "Use as button" and then re-check "Use as button" - adjusted all hyperlinks and formatting.  My work increased by 6 hours.

ROLLOVER STATE MUST HAVE MANUAL POSITION OR BETTER IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY ADJUST ITSELF WITH NORMAL STATE.

Hi all,

I encountered this same issue today and it is very frustrating.  I have figured a few things out and wanted to share with everyone.

When Inserting a Button from "Interactions > Button":

  1. All three initial states (Normal, RollOver, Down are in the middle of the screen.
  2. You can move the Normal state to a new location, however, the RollOver and Down states will stay in the middle of the slide

To put the RollOver, Down, and any other states in the correct position:

  1. Select the button whose states you want to change.
  2. Click the STATE VIEW button in the Properties window.
  3. On the Left side in the OBJECT STATES pane, right click on the state you want to move
  4. Left click on RESET STATE.
  5. The state will then jump to the location of the Normal state
  6. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for any other states you have that you want moved
  7. When done click on EXIT STATE at the top of the screen.

I also found that it was helpful to create a new Style for my states.

  1. With your buttons all in the correct location make the Normal state look the way you would like it to look.
  2. In the Properties pane select the next state you wish to style.
  3. Once done, style the rest of your states
  4. When done styling, click the button to the right of "Style Name".  It looks like 4 horizontal lines with an upside down triangle just on its left.
  5. Select CREATE STYLE, and name your style.

Now that you have a new default button style it becomes only about 4-5 steps to make all your buttons function the same.

  1. Create your button and move it to the desired position
  2. Enter "State View" and Rest State on your states
  3. Exit State View
  4. Select your button, and apply your new style.

I only figured this out about 30 minutes ago and haven't done much testing.  I wanted to share it before I forgot. : )

Finally figured out a solution with the state view issue we're having.

Step 1: Create a new responsive project.

Step 2: Create a new button interaction with the new responsive project.

Step 3: Set the button states based on whatever button style you select (i.e. image, text, transparent).

Step 4: Preview the project just to make sure the button is behaving how it should.

Step 5: If it's what you want, cut and paste the button into your original responsive project and the 'over' and 'down' states will be in sync with the 'normal' state regardless of where you move it.

Hope that helps.

Hello everyone,

I faced the same problem as well. I was using an image button. Here's what i did, on the state view, i right-clicked the rollover state and reset the state. This got the button to the original position, thereafter, I made the necessary changes.

I had a similar issue last week, the resolution was i had unchecked lock size and position, for whatever, buggy, reason this does not work all the time.

Thanks,

Josh

Playing around with the object states, here is another work around. When you're on state view, you can insert a text-box on top of the existing object which is locked. Select both the objects (using control and select) lock both these objects and unlock them. This should unlock the first object.

This worked for me.

Best,

Josh

I've been having the exact same problem!! When I add a button interaction to my responsive project and move it some where, it seems to be only moving the "up" state and not the "over" or "down". Those get locked in the original position when the button interaction was added. Therefore when you hover, the up state appears in the modified location while the "over" and "down" states appear in the original location.

Hi there,

Can you please try creating another responsive project, Reopen the above mentioned project, Reposition the button slightly and see it resolves the issue.

Thanks,

Nimmy Sukumaran.

Hi Nimmy,

I didn't  made any changes in my old work since it's complete.

So I made a new responsive project.  add shapes, use them as button and change roll over formats and then changed shape place.  everything work great, no problem this time.

So it is possible that at certain specific time, it's not working, it simply means there is bugs.  I prefer position in rollover state, so that make changes as per our need.

Thanks,
