Captivate 9 will open but will goes to spinning pinwheel after you click a project

Adobe Captivate 9 opens but when I click an existing project or new project to open the spinning pinwheel appears and the program is unresponsive...any ideas or tips? First time I've tried to open captivate in a month or two, have completely turned off computer and reopened and still the same. Mac user.

Are the CPTX files you are trying to open located in a folder on your local hard drive or somewhere else?

Is that 'desktop' indeed on your system, because it can be elsewhere as well? Why do you not use the default locations in Preferences, which will be added automatically to the Flash trusted locations (necessary for most Preview methods)? Where are the cache folders situated?
