Captivate and the creative cloud

Is there any plan for Adobe to add Captivate to the Creative Cloud Plan?  This should seriously be considered as they are driving people that need screen recording and its functionality to competitors like Camtasia.  I have the cloud plan currently and would gladly pay a bit more for Captivate.

Camtasia is not a competitor for Captivate at all, it is a screen recorder, only produces video. Captivate is a pretty multi-featured eLearning tool, which can produce interactive eLearning assets. To me that is a very important difference.

As for your question, this is a user forum, but whenever I asked about this possibility the answer was always very clear: NO. There are some logical reasons: Captivate is considered not to be creative enough by the CC people (I disagree, but that doesn't mean anything) and it still has a perpetual license, besided the suscription license. Same is the case for several other Adobe apps, Framemaker and RoboHelp are two examples.

I understand your frustration of course.

No, Camtasia does video, interactive video, quizzes, progress tracking, PP, multimedia, PiP, and so on.  It's still not anywhere near as powerful as Captivate, I think, but it's also a lot more than a screen recorder and simple NLE.

I have an old version of Camtasia, and with creative cloud, I assumed I had Captivate, so I figured instead of upgrading Camtasia, I'd learn Captivate - I thought "It's got to be better - I should learn it."

And then I go to install it and "Surprise!"

I understand that maybe they feel Captivate is too valuable to give away with CC (it's nothing to do with "not creative enough", I'll wager, so much as it has to do with "We're getting half the price of CC just for this one tool!") but it does kind of bring to light that it's surprising that CC doesn't have a powerful, integrated screen capture and screen recording tool.

Sorry but essentially Camtasia remains a video tool, with added features. It is not an eLearning authoring tool in the proper sense like Captivate, Lectora and others.  No responsive projects, no branching,  to mention only a couple. Captivate has PIP (video demo), interactive video, use of 360° images and video, fluid boxes and breakpoint views for responsive projects....on top of all the neccesary functiobality of an authoring tool. BTW I have Camtasia in my toolbox, as I have Snagit, Photoshop, Illsutrator Audition and all the rest of the CC.
