Captivate becomes Classic Captivate !...

Hello Captivaters !...

As many of you, I couldn't wait to discover the brand new Captivate that we have waited for so long !... So yesterday I downloaded it... Watched all the videos tutorial which were available... And started to "play" with it...

For me, at the first sight... It's not "charming" at all !!!... It's only available for responsive projects and so doesn't seem to offer all the opportunities that we had with the previous version... No more library... No more advanced or shared actions... And the personalizations seem limited to horizontal pre-formated "blocks"... 

I also discovered that my old projects opened by default (when double-clicked from my Windows Explorer) with the new version !!...

So I desinstall it... for now... hoping that improvements will be done...

And as I return to my "old" version this morning, I discover that a new update of Captivate was available !... It's now 11.8.2 !... And it changes its name !... Becoming now "Captivate Classic" !...

And as I love so much this software which I have used everyday for more than 3 years now, I hope that Adobe will go on to take care of this "Classic" version... And won't stop in 2027 or 2028 as I read...

But let's wait and see what the "charming" version will become !...

    I'm confused as to how your 2023 Captivate opened Captivate 2019 files. They have different file extensions. When I open the new version, it ignores all .ctpx files.

    In fact, the new version doesn't open the "old" project... It's just the new version that is launched from my windows explorer, but without the project in it !...

    This monting 1/7/2023 - I had Captivate 11.8.1 open on my mac. I went to update and saw there was an update. I ran the updater without closing my captivate software.  At the end of the update a new captivate version opened which says it is 11.8.2 and is called captivate classic.  But I'm wondering if this was a glitch. Isn't classic some older limited software.  My old version of captivate has gone now since i closed it. ie i can't find it in my applications.

    Has the latest captivate really been renamed? Or have i got a different application now accidentally?

    Pour votre information:

    • Tant que la version 12 est limitée, on peut utiliser CP2019 en parallel avec version 12 dans la même license.
    • En effect, la version 12 ne produit que des projets 'responsifs' à part les simulations. Je recommende de conserver la version 11 pour tout ce qui n'est pas possible dans 12. Les project 'responsifs' souffre des même limitations que les projets 'Fluid Boxes' dans CP2019. 
    • Les simulations sont une copie conforme dans la nouvelle UI mais puisque c'est le seul type de projet 'non-responsif' il n'est pas possible d'ajouter des dias de contenu, de quiz... 
    • Il n'y plus d'actions avancées, partagées et il ne reste que très peu de variables de système. Micro-navigation n'est plus possible excepté avec les 'bookmark' mais bookmarks sont statiques, ne peuvent pas être dynamiques.
    • Il n'ya plus de Libraires, ni de collaboration avec PS, Animate, Illustrator, Audition.

    Pourtant il doit être possible de lier la version correct aux projets. Dans la version 12 l'extension es 'cp', dans la version 11 'cptx'.
