Question

Captivate Cache when using an LMS for each presentation

I'm realatively new to Captivate but can't seem to find the answer to this question. I plan on uploading each training presentation to a separate LMS so I'm not really sure where to set the locations for "Publish At" and "Project Cache".

Because the default locations didn't exist for Publish At I put it in a folder on my computer and it seemed to be happy with that. The project cache on the other hand is what I am stuggling with.

Any input would be appreciated.

The default paths for both locations are fine, unless you have your documents stored on a networked drive. That can be the case in companies. It is important that you always work on local folders on your system.

The 'Publish at' folder is also the folder why the Captivate projects (cptx and cpvc) will be stored by default, it is not only the publishing folder. It will also keep the backup files. But feel free to choose another path. I will store them on a second (HDD) because I reserve the primary SSD (which is limited in size) for applications only.

It is VERY important however not to choose the same folder for both paths. Reason: the cache folder can grow quickly and needs to be cleared regularly (using a button under Preferences, General Settings). If you choose the same folder for 'Publish at' you risk to delete your projects.

Project cache is meant to speed up re-opening a project, just for your comfort.
