Question

Captivate closes shortly after loading

Hi all,

I am on a deadline and unable to finish my projects because whenever I open (either the project or captivate directly) it seems to open and seconds later completely closes.

I am using a MAC and have done many of the items to make sure the program works.

1- uninstalled Captivate and Re-Installed

2- Installed Un-installed and re-installed Flash.

3- Open Captivate Directly

4- Open File directly

5- Shifted file from cloud directly to computer, tried to open from there.

Any help you can give would be immense. I really need to get this finished.

You'll need to provide more information in order for people on this forum to be able to help you:

  • What version (major and minor) of Captivate are you using?
  • Have you applied all of the latest patches?  (e.g. if you are on Captivate 2017 and you just recently upgraded to High Sierra OS, you won't be able to get Captivate to work on High Sierra unless you have installed the latest patches)
  • Were you successfully using Captivate on this particular OS version of MAC?  Or did this issue just appear suddenly AFTER you installed some new update to the OS or you installed some other piece of software?  (Installing certain fonts has been known to cause compatibility issues sometimes.)
  • Does this issue occur with any Captivate project files, or are you able to open Captivate normally and create a new blank project file without issue.  (It could be that your current project has become corrupted and you will need to roll back to an earlier backup before the corruption appeared.  You DO have backups turned on don't you?)
  • When you uninstalled and reinstalled Captivate, did you reset your Preferences folder?
  • If it turns out the project file is corrupted, have you tried resurrecting the project from the cache?
