Captivate crashes when opening file

I am running Captivate 2019, v.11.5.5.553. Updater says this is the most recent version. I have cleared Captivate cache, rebooted, run as administrator, with no internet. Regardless, when I open two project files, it opens to about 82% and then Captivate shuts down completely. I am not getting any error messages, it just shuts down.

Any suggestions?

If you are still able to create and open other CPTX files then it's unlikely the issue is with your Captivate installation.

Have these projects been opened and saved by any other Captivate developer on your team?  If so, check which exact version of Captivate they were using.  It could be that they used version 11.8 and that then make it impossible for you to now edit the same project file.  (Though that situation usually just causes Captivate to complain rather than crash.)

The projects can be corrupted. You didn't mention that you cleared the Preferences which could solve a possible corruption as well. Find the subfolder 'utils' under the installation folder and run CleanPreferences... (depends on your OS) while Captivate is closed. More info in:

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, it didn't work.

It was worth trying. You can start a new project, but there is a problem with two projects not opening anymore? Did you already try the backup file? They are generated by default, you'll find them in the same folder as the original cptx. Just delete bak from the extension.
