Captivate - Fatal Crash

I have been working on a file with advanced actions.  Captivate quit without any error message or warning.  I had 2 files open, the one I was working and another one.  Both files have completely disappeared from my computer.  I know the name of both files and where I stored them and they are no longer there. The preceding version is there which means I have lost about 2 days work.  I'm working on a MAC OSX 10.8.3 and with Captivate 6.

Any idea will be most welcome.

Thanks

Ann

    Ann,

There is likely to still be a folder in your My Documents > Adobe Captivate Cached Projects folder for each of the projects you had open at the time Captivate crashed.

Take a look at the information in this link:

    http://www.infosemantics.com.au/adobe-captivate-troubleshooting/recover-corrupt-project

Look for the headings partway down about how to recover projects from the project cache.  In theory, the last two projects you were working on should be the ones with the most recent Date Modified dates.  If you are lucky, you may be able to recover them this way.  Fingers crossed...

    Hi

Thank you so much for your speedy response.

I've found the Cached Projects folder with today's date.  The instructions that you sent are great but they only provide instructions for a PC.  The instruction is to zip the file BUT they display an instruction to "add to db.zip.  On a MAC I onlly have an option to Compress the files.

Also there is no file called 'already in use.lock' and the file structure I can see is not like the the one displayed on the page.

I have compressed the file, changed the extension and tried to open a couple of times and each time it crashed again.

    Any other ideas?

Can you send a screenshot of the file structure you see?

Are you compressing the selected files from INSIDE the db folder, or are you just compressing the db folder?
