Captivate Immediately Crashing Upon Opening

I use Captivate twice a year to build interactive courses for several online courses. When I went to open Captivate 7, it appeared to open, then immediately closed. I uninstalled and reinstalled it and same result. Downloaded the trial version of Captivate 9 (I'm not going to upgrade if it will not open), and same result. Very frustrating to read numerous online threads of this happening with seemingly no solution. The program icon appears, the dot blinks, then it immediately closes. Any advice to make this program actually work?

Macbook Pro - El Capitan, 12Gb RAM, 2 Ghz i7 with >200Gb hard drive space.

    Your OS may be the culprit, CP7 was certainly never tested with El Capitan, which even was released after the CP9 release.

    I am a Win user, but since I still have to use CP8 for clients, I will not upgrade to Win10, that is not compatible with CP8 neither.
