Question

Captivate keeps freezing when I try to add audio

Hi -

This happens sporadically, but sometimes (e.g. right now) when I try to add audio to my Captivate 7 project it just hangs and is non-responsive.

Is this a known issue? Need some help because I'm in a time crunch here.

Thanks,

Jared

Have you by any chance been using a multiple monitor setup recently?

If so, then your non-responsive Captivate might just be that a modal dialog is open but you cannot see it on your current screen setup.

When Captivate becomes unresponsive again, try hitting the ESCAPE key on your keyboard.  If that returns control to you, then the multi-screen issue is your likely culprit.  You need to recreate the original screen setup and when you find the elusive modal dialogs (there may be more than one) drag them back over the main screen again.

I actually do use one, the problem always occurs when I detach my laptop and only use that. Interestingly enough, this started working again after a night of the laptop being hooked back to the dock and then being detached again. I will try your solution the next time this happens.

Thanks!

Clear the cache, except for the current file. And did you try restarting Captivate, maybe even restarting your system?

Tried clearing the cache but it didn't seem to help. Already tried the other two things (unsuccessfully)

And refreshing Preferences? Tried that as well?
