Captivate modules on Oracle Fusion LMS. Items missing from the screen

Hi there

We have launched our first couple of regulatory Captivate-made courses on our new LMS - Oracle Fusion recently. Several users have reported elements in the SCORMs missing. I suspect this is related to slow connectivity, but we have not had anything similar with the old LMS. Access normally is from home through the EFG Portal Citrix app.

These are Captivate made courses with images and smart shapes. What happens is that a few of the images or buttons just do not appear on the screen. The rest do appear, but some of the items dont. Hundreds of users have taken these courses so it is not a general issue. I strongly suspect that it is a slow connection. But this leaves me without anything that I can do. Sure, we exported the module as PDF file that is attached as Related Material to the course and this is a workaround but not the smooth one I am looking for.

The courses have been relaunched several times in the last couple of years and we have never had such an issue with them. I have connected to a couple of PCs of users who reported these issues and I can say that they had slow internet. Does the above issue ring a bell to anyone?

Is it the connection between the user's PC and Citrix, Or between the office PC and Fusion's server...

I know, many questions but sharing any experience would be appreciated

Thanks

Bobby

Slow connections only usually cause complaints from users because they are seeing spinning loading gifs when waiting several seconds for slide content to appear.  I have not seen issues (in my own courses) where slow connections caused random objects to disappear entirely.  Usually they eventually turned up and appear.

In your situation, my money would be on the Citrix APP as being the culprit here.

I would suggest you upload the same course module to SCORM Cloud LMS wth a free test account and get one of these users with poor internet connection to view the course from their end to see if they can reproduce the same issue at all.  This then allows you to test the same user and same slow connection but without CITRIX being involved at all.  If they see all shapes, despite the slow connection, that buts the bandwidth at the bottom of the list of possible causes.

You can also test for bandwidth as a gremlin using web browser developer tools in Google Chrome.  There is an option there to artificially 'throttle' the bandwidth down to a low level to see if you can reproduce the issue.

Thank you for that Rod. Will definitely try this.
