Question

Captivate not publishing updates to content but these can be seen in preview mode

Using Captivate 9.0.2.421
Publish as: HTML5/ SWF; Output format: HTML5

I'm trying to publish the latest version of a project file, and Captivate seems to be reverting to a previous version on publishing - I cannot see my editing/ changes.

Even if I just add a shape to a slide, the shape can't be seen in the published output (but can be seen in preview in browser)..

I have already:

  • Cleared the cache - it has always been in a different folder on my local drive not on a network and not the same folder set for publishing
  • Created a new version of the file by copy and pasting the old and renaming.
  • When publishing I have ticked "Force re-publish on all slides"
  • I haven't changed publishing settings - using the same ones I've been using successfully for months (HTML5/ SWF; Output format: HTML5)

Changes can be seen in project preview, e.g. in F12 preview in browser.

Changes can't be seen when playing scorm in an LMS.

Last night, after many, many hours, trying to find a solution, it finally seemed to publish the module WITH the changes. Now again today it is reverted back to a version from about a week ago.

What's going on?

Try changing the name of the output published, and make sure you check the box for it to be published into its own folder.  Does it then publish with all the latest changes?

Thanks for the reply, Rod. Yes, even when I change the name for this file, it doesn't publish changes.

Regarding publishing to a folder, isn't that a non-scorm output?

I went back to the previous version, made a slight change, did a test publish, and it DID publish the change. So I made a copy of that version, and started copying and pasting in the first half of the slide objects from the broken (?) file and it did not include the changes when published. All correct changes can still be seen in preview, just not when published.

Does this mean there's a corrupt object (or similar) which is preventing all the changes from being published?

I was concentrating first and foremost on figuring out why your project was not maintaining changes to the content rather than worrying about SCORM issues at this stage.

This is not a common issue so I think it's quite possible your project has become corrupted and would suggest you create a new blank project of the same dimensions and copy all slides from your old project to the new one and then see if changes are correctly shown after publishing in that new project.
