Captivate Playbar

I'm wanting to learn more about how to control the Captivate Playbar without having to create a custom playbar or using smartshapes.  I'm was able figure out how to hide the playbar by individual slide (On enter, create an advanced action to assign 0 to cpCmndShowPlaybar) and it works great.  But is there a way to disable the 'next' or 'back' buttons on the playbar for a given slide?  I've tried assigning 0 to cpCmndNextSlide, but that doesn't work.  Thoughts?  Does each button on the playbar have a specific variable name and can they be manipulated?  Thanks.

You do not even need that variable, there is a command to Hide Playbar.

No to your question about Next and Back Use a shape button on first slide,

timed for rest of project and you'll have full control.

But if we use shape buttons, then the progress bar is gone and the learner can't see their progress.  There would be no volume control without creating it.  The Closed Caption button would be gone and we'd have to create it.  In other words, all the things we like on the playbar would have to be recreated because I want to disable the next and back buttons.  In effect, we would have to create a custom playbar which we want to avoid.

I never use the playbar, also because it is too confusing if you have

branching. Progress can also be shown using TOC, IMO much better for any

course. User can scrub through the course using the progress bar. Once you

have the shared actions for all the buttons you need, it is a breeze to set

    them up in any project
