Captivate presentation gets stuck

Hi,

I have an 870-slide, branched Captivate presentation that I have created using Captivate 7.

Every time I run the presentation on a browser (I tried both Firefox and Chrome), it gets stuck halfway through the presentation. I tried rebooting my computer and closing other running applications prior to running it; however, each time I end up getting a white screen halfway through the presentation.

My Windows specs are:

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

RAM: 8 GB

CPU: Intel i7 M620@2.67GHz

I have only 4GB of space remaining on my hard drive. Do I need to more space on the HD to run the presentation?

Could any of you guys give me some tips to optimize the performance of running Captivate on my laptop?

Thanks,

Dinesh

I would certainly advice to clean up that HDD, try to have at least 10-20% free on it. It seems to be a very big project. If it is always on the same slide that presentation is stuck, I would agree with Rod, but if it is not, could be due to resources issue.

This sounds more like you may have some object on one of your slides that is causing this glitch.

Take a copy of your project file and hide all slides in the second half of the project.  Then publish and test to see if the issue remains.  If it does not, try the same experiment but this time hide all slides in the first half of the project.  If you find that one of these halves evidences the issue, repeat the process to try and isolate which specific slide or slides seems to cause the issue.  If you can isolate the slide, try deleting objects off that slide and republishing.

If you can hide either half of the project but the problem still remains, try deleting any Advanced Actions and variables in the project to see if that fixes it.

Remember that you are doing all of this on a COPY of the project file, NOT the original.

Eventually you should be able to resolve the issue by using this process of elimination.
