Captivate question on audio

  • Using a drag and drop interaction.

Coming into a slide, I have audio playing. When I start the interaction, I have audio that is triggered in the drag and drop. How can I stop the main audio from playing once I have triggered the drag and drop audio?

Correct answer Lilybiri

Is the initial audio slide audio? That is the type of audio that doesn't allow much control, but you need it if you have to use CC.

Since you talk about audio triggered in the drag&drop I suppose you are not needing CC. Remove the slide audio, and use the command 'Play Audio' to play that clip On Enter for the slide. Do the same for the audio triggered by the drag&drop. You don't tell 'how' that audio is triggered. That specific command has the functionality that it stops automatically the previous clip when a new clip is started.

Hi Jeff,

If you make an advanced action that is triggered 'on enter' on the slide that plays the slide audio (rather than have it attached to the slide), and then tweak your drag and drop actions to include 'Stop Triggered Audio', this should do what you wanted.

Let me know if this isn't quite what you were looking for.

Hope this helps!

Mike

@Mpettitt You don't have to stop the audio if the audio on the drag&drop is also started with the Play Audio command. Stop triggered audio is only necessary if you want to stop an audio clip that is triggered by Play Audio and do not want to start another clip. It has no effect whatsoever on slide audio or object audio.
