Hi

Our company is considering purchasing captivate to create on-line simulations for an in-house system. We would like to create the simulations and post them on the web. However I have read some posts and it seems that there seems to be some issues with resource usage, file size etc. Can someone comment on this statement?

Captivate movies can and usually do contain high quality graphics as well as audio - and other "objects" that can combine to create large file sizes in the output. The way to become a contented user is to learn to design around those limitation, instead of trying to bull-doze through them, as some attempt to do.

To imply the product might be lacking in some way because of insufficient resources when running poorly designed SWFs is akin to shooting the dog to get rid of the fleas.

To summarize, don't expect to create a perfect result without spending some time learning the application and its advantages and limitations. But the bottom line is, many sources have stated unequivicallly that Captivate is "best in class".

The complaints always come from those who are having troubles for one reason or another. That is as it should be, but don't let it deter you from downloading the trial version and spending the next 30 days learning how to make it sit up and do other tricks.

Good luck to you, and welcome to the Captivate User Community - we are all happy to help you get started in any way we can.
