Question

Captivate - Single Expand/Collapse

We are using Captivate 19

We desire to have a single/one text box/shape (which contains an scenario) that can be expanded over the top of an image and then collapsed so the learner can continue to click on appropriate hot spot(s).

I'm figuring if it can be done, it would be using Advanced Actions... Just not sure what it would be.

Thanks in advance.

It will be version 11, but it had three main releases: 11.0, 11.5 and 11.8. Can you check the exact version number under Help, About Captivate?

I would use a multistate object, that will be the easiest way. Create a second state for the image, where you add the scenario stuff. The button to open would need the command 'Go to Next State', to collapse 'Go to Previous State'. You may do that with one Toggle button as well. Not so much advanced actions needed, just a user variable to check which state you are in: I will label that user variable v_open used as a Boolean. Default value for the variable = 0 which means that the normal state (image) is visible). Let me know if you want to go with two buttons (expand/collapse) or with one Toggle button.

I will check the version and then hope to try out your suggestion.  I'll let you know.
