Hi,

I have a problem with the SWF files that are generated in captivate  5. I am embedding the swf file in my html, but the swf file is not starting to play before it is fully loaded , a thing causing a large delay in the play time.

what am I doing wrong?

thanks

thanks for the response. but I actually tried it and configured the project to start at 10% , but still it is not loading until it is finished...

my swf file is ~10mb. it takes too long.  is there something that I am missing, or it is the only parameter?

    thanks

    Welcome to our community

    When you say:

I am embedding the swf file in my html,

Does that mean you have an existing HTML page that you just inserted the Captivate SWF into, or does that mean you have copied the HTML page that Captivate created for you to your web presence and are pointing to that page to play your SWF?

When you edit the project in Captivate, if you click Edit > Preferences > Project > Start and End, what is your preloader value set to? Perhaps you need to adjust it from 100% to something like 60% or so.

    Cheers... Rick

So maybe I'm under the wrong impression here, but from my experience changing the preloader % never does anything in regards to starting the file before it is fully loaded.  All that ever happens when I've changed the preloader % is that the preloader is only displayed for that amount of time.  (ie if I change the preloader to 10% then the preloader is only visible till 10% is loaded and then it disappears and I see the skin and a blank stage).

The only thing that I've ever gotten to work has been to break my projects up and publish them in smaller chunks (creating multiple SCOs).  Then I use the Aggregator to combine everything into the overall course.  Then when the course runs it only needs to load the first chunk to start playing.

At least that's the only thing I've found that works.  Love to hear of a better way if anyone has one though.

    Hi there,

The preloader is not designed the way you mentioned. It would load the course by so much percent and start playing the course while the remaining is loaded parellely when the movie is played.

Can you give me some more information on the preloader. Is it a AS3 preloader. ? Can you share the link to the course where the preloader does not come for a certain period of time before the course starts ?

Which version of Captivate are you using ?
