Captivate Version 2017 vs 2019

If I currently have 2017 is there really a need to upgrade to 2019 or is 2017 sufficient?

ALl is up to you. There are already two rather different versions of CP2019: version 11 and version 11.5. I have been blogging quite a lot just about the upgrade from 11 to 11.5 because there are a ton of new features. But it is possible that you are perfectly happy with CP2017 if you don't want to use those new features like being able to use SVGs as buttons, improvement of Themes (change font in all styles in one workflow), the new Assets panel etc....
