Cell Phone Screen Shots & Mouse Cursor Question

What is the best way to reduce the file size of cell phone screenshots? I have a project that shows how to download the MyChart App & the screen shots are super big.

Also is there a way to hide the mouse cursor until the time it should actually display in a published project? I position the mouse on the Timeline at the appropriate time to appear, but the cursor displays for the entire slide time.

Use a graphics editor such as PhotoShop or similar to resize images to be exactly the right size for your Captivate project.

Captivate simulations endeavour to replicate the way software normally works.  When you use an app on your computer, does your mouse cursor disappear unless you are using it?  No.  So that's the way it works in Captivate.  The cursor sits on the screen waiting until the next time it is moved.

Now in reality you CAN make it LOOK as if the cursor disappears by two methods:

  • Capture a small part of the background graphic on a slide and place that over the top of the cursor so that it is hidden.  Time this graphic to disappear when you want the mouse cursor to appear.
  • Split your slides and do not have a mouse cursor object on the slides where you don't want to see it.
