Change a Slide Duration on Captivate 2017

slide transitionI created a CP project from MS PowerPoint adding audio and captions on each of the slides in CP and everything is working perfectly fine. The only issue I have is trying to change the slide duration of few of the slides. I changed the value for the slide duration in the timing tab for the slide but the change of the valued is not accepted. For example, I want to change the slide duration from 46.2 secs to 36 secs and it changes back to 46.2 secs. I did it on a previous project and it worked so I am not sure what I am missing this time!

Music/Audio will also force the length of a slide.

Have a look on your timeline for any layers like this, that are near the start and continue to the end of your timeline and say a time in seconds e.g "6.0s". When trying to reduce the slide duration to lower than this number, it will just ignore what you type in.

If you select these layers and press CTRL+E and make them display for the rest of the slide (as seen on the layers below), then you should be able to reduce the slide duration.

I have only two layers in the timeline:  the one for the PPT and the one for the audio.  Somehow I clicked something  that allowed me to see the END option in the second layer.  I dragged the END to the selected duration and it allowed me to change the duration.   Thank you so much!

slide duration drag the END

Each PPT slide is converted to a kind of movie slide, and mimicks the timing of PPT-slides. That is the reason you cannot change the duration.

I never use PPT import myself, it is too limiting. Use the assets from the PPT presentation and create in Captivate from scratch will offer you a lot more control and may even save time at the end.
