Change Hide and Show

Hi - I have a page with 6 images I want to show based on 6 click boxes. My plan (I work with other software as well) was to:
- For the first click box: Create an advanced action with all 6 images
- Show the first image and hide the other 5
- Copy/paste that click Box 5X (with advanced action already done)
- Edit the other 5 click boxes' action to simply change Hide to Show as required

 

The problem: When I change Hide to Show, the itme I wish to chnage disappears and has to be reselected.
Any way to simply change the Hides and Shows without losing what is alreadt entered?

Sure, could post about shared actions. But I don't understand why you still use that OLD approach, which is not even possible when you are in a Fluid Boxes project, where both click boxes, groups and stacked objects are foridden.

 

Did you never try this approach (which I have demonstrated multiple times on my blog,just fhinishing another example as answer to another question this morning:

  1. Create a multistate shape, where you set the Normal state to invisible (Alpha and Stroke = 0) for the user.
  2. Add as many custom states as you need images. Label them in a consistent way. Here is an example (from that blog which I am writing at this moment - was about a question slide)/
  3. You don't need an advanced action for the click boxes: just use the command 'Change state for....'. Do not forget to uncheck the option 'Continue Playing the Project'.

The Hide/Show I used until Captivate 6, but I grouped the images. That way you can easily use a shared action with two commands:

  1. Hide Group
  2. Show ....

I feel your pain on that one. UGH! Always ground my gears.

You may be able to alleviate this frustration to some extent using shared actions.

I don't use them myself but Lieve would be able to weigh in on that for you.

 

My personal approach on this is to code the actions manually with JavaScript rather than through the GUI.
