'Change State of' is greyed out throughout project.

Hoping someone can help.

I'm working in Captivate 2017. I have multiple image buttons throughout the project with various different states assigned to them. However, nowhere in the project (not even on the slides where said buttons with multiple states exist) are 'Change the State of', 'Go to Next State', or 'Go to Previous State' selectable. They are simply greyed out.

Would appreciate any solutions or ideas.

SInce you are talking about buttons, are you aware of the fact that those commands are only available for custom states, not for InBuilt states? The InBuilt states are Normal, Rollover, Down and (for CP2017 only) Visited.

Those InBuilt states appear automatically when the situation fits them. Same for all the InBuilt states for Drag&Drop objects:
