Changing text button display?

I'm embarrassed to ask this but I'm stumped. I've got a branching slide with 6 text buttons, and I need to add a "quiz me" button. I want the quiz button to be distinct from the others, but aside from switching to an image button, which doesn't have a "quiz me" image that I can find, I'm stuck with merely changing the text on the button. Is there a way to change the default grey text button to another color?

Thanks! I'm using Cap 5.5 and am a complete novice at advanced interactions, in case you couldn't tell.

Hello,

No, I'm sorry, changing the color of the text buttons is not possible. I know that this is stupid but...

Some ideas if you do not want to create a custom image button (which is not that hard): use the static or interactive button widget, it has some different layouts.

Or make the button transparent and layer a rectangle or another shape under it.

Thanks! I played around with my button options after posting this and I created a viable workaround. I put a transparent text box that says "Quiz Me!" on the slide and layered a transparent button with a 90% fill over it:

While this isn't the way I'd hoped to create it and I had the extra step of adding the transparent text, the end result is what I was looking for. Thanks for your ideas!

Hi Krista,

I'm not using 5.5 yet but if it is like 4, there's no facility to change the text button colour.

However, you are not stuck with the buttons that ship with captivate.

You can create your own image button using Photoshop or some other image editing program.

They really are just images and Captivate takes care of the button functionality, so you have to do is create your own images (three, even if you only want to use 2 states) buttonName_up.png (or .bmp), buttonName_down.png (or .bmp), and buttonName_over.png (or .bmp). Put the buttons in a folder you want and when you insert the button object and select image button, navigate to that folder and select one of the images and Captivate "knows" based on the file name, what state they are.(down, over, up).

You can make them anysize, shape, or colour you want.

Hint: I create mine using layers in one image file.

Not sure how button selection and advanced interactions are linked here. You can associate an advanced interaction to a button you create.

Cheers,

Michael
