Choppy transitions for Video Demo

I am working on a video demo in Version 9.  I've inserted a few video clips side-by-side without any audio.  When I went in to record the audio over these clips, everything seems fine when I listen to it in the audio editor.  Then, when I listen to it as a project, the audio is choppy between transitions of the clips.  I believe I have the clips directly adjacent to each other, and I have no transition effects between clips. 

Can anyone lend some insight?
