Question

Click Box - On Click go to next slide after X seconds

Hi,

I am using click boxes to help users understand more about certain aspects of a software application. When they click on highlighted area a caption displays explaining more about the area. I am executing advanced actions to display the captions. Rather than using the playbar to move to next slide, i'd like the video to move onto the next slide automatically after e.g. 5 seconds. I was thinking if I had a variable with the time value in it, I could then add an additional line with an expression (goto to next and use the variable to control when that happens ) to my execute advanced actions to achieve this. I cant quite get there.

Can some help me out, or advise of a far easier way to achieve this

Thanks

Dan

With advanced actions it is not possible, you cannot time. I don't understand clearly what you want: has each slide only one click area to show text? You could use a combination of an action with the timeline. Be sure to have 5 seconds left after the pausing point of the click box (which is the end point of its timeline), and add Continue to the advanced action.

Another approach: using the timer or hourglass interaction (you can setits alpha to 0% to make it invisible), but it is a bit cumbersome to set up and not very precise in timing.

Captivate doesn't currently have this capability.  Please log an enhancement request to add your voice to all the others that want this type of feature made possible with Advanced Actions and Variables.
