Question

Click box won't advance to page

I have created a simple menu in my captivate 2 movie and created click boxes to jump to specific pages in the project. There are 8 click boxes in the menu. When I preview the movie, the last 3 click boxes do not work. The branching view indicates that the click boxes are linked to the appropriate pages.

Any thoughts?

Hello and welcome to the Captivate forums!

When you say "preview", are you previewing the whole movie?

If you're using the "Preview next # slides" option (the # being configurable in the Captivate preferences), then the slides your last 3 buttons link to are probably more than # of slides away from your menu. Basically, it's like saying "Show me the next 5 slides only, but make this button go to slide 8"... it won't work. Preview the entire project and your buttons should be fine.

If you're previewing the published movie on the web and it's not working, it could be that you're not waiting for enough of the movie to download. If you try to navigate to a slide that hasn't downloaded yet, the button has nowhere to go to. That's just a fundamental flaw in streamed media.

Beyond that, there are sometimes glitches in buttons and other objects that can only be fixed by deleting the button and creating a new one. If all else fails, give that a try.

John
