closed captioning

Help!  I've entered my text in the Video, Edit Video Timing, Closed Captioning text box... new line added with + for every sentence, some even more than one line per sentence.  I added the CC trigger line by line as well, however when I publish and QC my course, the CC is appearing too soon.  I open back up the CC section in the Edit Video Timing box, go thru the entire course to reset the triggers and they still aren't showing up correctly.  Plus, to add insult to injury, I now have an additional 12 seconds at the end of the video that wasn't there to begin with... Help! Please.
