closed captioning covering part of the slide

Hello

Is there a way that we can set up the closed captioning so that it does not cover up part of the slide?  Or are all the skins set up in the same way?

Thanks much, Marion

Correct answer Lilybiri

AFAIK Closed Captioning is always in overlay (unless this can be change with JS?). My approach is to mark the space for the CC at the bottom of the slides with a guide, and to avoid to use that space for relevant objects.

HI Lilybiri

Thank you for you quick reply!

What is JS?

I like the approach of leaving space at the bottom for cc. I reviewed the blog and have some questions.

1. How do you turn on the grid?

2. Do you record the simulation with the grid turned on so that you know how much space to leave?...

3. Do you turn the grid on after you've recorded your simulation and then somehow adjust the bottom margin to make room for it?  If this is the process, again how do you do this?

I'm new to Captivate and am learning as I go along...

Thanks again, Marion

View, Rulers will turn on the rulers. You can drag guides out of the rulers, or by clicking on a certain location (like 550 px on the vertical guide). You can set up a grid as well, there are many possibilities.

In the original question you didn't talk about a software simulation, which changes the situation! I would capture the simulation (during capture you'll not see the guides). After capturing you can rescale the Project with the Modify menu: increase only the vertical size and make sure that the original backgrounds are not resized. Look at this screenshot: original size was 720px vertically, I changed it to 800px, and look at the settings under 'If new size is larger':
