Closed captioning rows not numbered

Gentlefolk,

An issue that has plagued me forever with Captivate 2019, the rows in my closed captioning window are not numbered. In all the demos I have seen, everyone but me has rows numbered!

Pushing Captivate 2019 on Windows 10.

Suggestions for getting my row numbers to display?

Many thanks!

Don

Our very own Paul Wilson can provide an illustration of closed captions with row numbers populated:

And on the subject of irks with closed captioning, the row start time and end time are in hh:mm:ss;tenths (whatever the appreviation for tenths of a second is....)  BUT the timeline is all in seconds.

Since Captivate has had this CC function unchanged for ages, I am guessing this is not a bug but a feature, but the benefit is lost on me.

And final irk.... waiting for a speech to text function that includes integrated synchronization with the video. I am working through a 90 minute instructional video now, and the CC is a slog, even with the assist of a speech to text tool, dropping in lines of CC for a 90 minute presentation - well, the fun has worn off.

If I am missing some majorly obvious workflow assists, I AM INTERESTED!!!

Similar answer to Rod, I never see numbered rows on CC text. Could you perhaps add some links to the 'demos' you are talking about? In the future is it possible also to add the full version number (Help, About Captivate) because CP2019 has a lot of versions so far.

At least update to version 11.5.5.553 which was released quite a while ago. There is even a later version 11.8 but you only need it when on Mac (Monterey and/or M1 chip) or Win11.

CC styling was completely revamped a couple of versions ago. Did you log your feature requests? That may be more efficient than just complaining in a forum where help is provided freely by other users. Here is a direct link to the form:

I am also on Captivate 2019 on Windows 10 and my CC text does not have numbered rows either.

The screenshot you show is for video closed captioning, not normal slide closed captioning.  However, neither one has numbered rows for CC text.

If you saw videos somewhere that showed numbered rows in Captivate CC text then perhaps it was on a Mac computer?  That would be the only possible explanation I can think of.  But I will have to leave it to someone with a Mac to confirm this.  It seems unlikely to me that Captivate's functionality would differ this way from one platform to the other.
