Closed captions in 2017

My client wants the closed captions to remain onscreen after the Voice Over stops, similar to Articulate.  I’ve tried to do this by inserting silence at the end of the audio track and pausing the slide before the end of the silence (suggested by another user).  This doesn't seem to work.  The slide pauses, but not the CC.  It goes away.  Is there another way?

    There is no easy way to do this in Captivate.

    Inserting silence via the option in the Slide Audio dialog will insert pure silence that has no audio information at all.  When Captivate sees this type of silence at the beginning or end of a clip it pretty much ignores it and the CC text will disappear.

    So you have to insert "dirty silence", that is, very low volume audio that is not pure.  If you are doing voiceover on this project with a human speaker then you should be able to cut and paste some of the sound from areas where the speaker pauses during narration.  However, if you are generating TTS (text to speech) using the voices supplied with Captivate all you will get is pure silence.
