Closed captions questions

I have 2 questions on closed captions:

1) Can I specify a different default location for closed captions depending on which breakpoint I am in?  As a caption that fits on desktop may not fit elegantly in the same place on mobile.   I thought there was a way to do this in older versions of Captivate, however in 2017 I do not see a place to toggle the breakpoints.  If I put in a closed caption the location is the same for all breakpoints.

2) When I put in closed captions on a video, the captions by default appear back to back with no time gap in between.   I think there must be a way to hide the captions for periods of time and then make them appear again.   But it does not let me edit the start or end times other than sliding the start time selector.

Thanks for anyone's assistance with this.

To answer your second question. You need to mark distinct locations on the timeline for each sentence or paragraph of text. If there is a long pause from one part of the narration to the next you can insert a blank item for that period of time.

Adobe Captivate 2017 is the first version to offer custom size and location of Closed Captioning. In Adobe Captivate 9 or earlier you could make formatting choices and choose how many lines of closed Captioning to display but the closed captioning window was always along the bottom of the stage at a fixed location.

Using Captivate 2017 fluid box responsive design will give you the option to set it for a certain percentage from the left and be a percentage of the screen size wide. If however, you are using breakpoint mode you will get the ability to set distinct Desktop, Tablet, and Smartphone layouts. See the screen capture below...
