Question

combining separate .cptx video tutorials into one with TOC

I have created a series of video tutorials using adobe captivate. I needed them all as separate files for a different use but now i would like to combine them all into one to create an e-learning with a TOC to be placed on our LMS.

How can i combine the separate .cptx video files into one file and also put a TOC with it so the student can easily navigate from section to section?

Since you mention you're using an LMS I'm assuming that this will be SCORM-compliant, correct?

If so then you need to investigate the Adobe SCORM Packager application that comes with Captivate 7 (or the Elearning Suite in earlier Cp versions).  You'll need to create each module of the course as a separate SCO and then use the SCORM Packager to bundle them up into a single zip file for upload to your LMS.  The LMS wil take care of displaying the combined TOC to launch each module.

@RodWard,

I'm familiar with publishing captivate projects as SCORM courses and have successfully launched them in our LMS before.

Last night while toying with it, I think i found a work around that suits my needs that is a bit different from your recommendation above. heres what i did, let me know if this makes sense or if you think i'll experience problems down the line:

1. I published each of the .cptv files as .mp4 files

2. created a separate, blank captivte project and proceeded to import the recently published videos into each slide.

3. I can now move the videos around in the order i would like and also base the TOC off the slide names, successfully maintaining integrity of each of the videos

the issue i can see here will be in video updates: if there are changes to the original video files, whoever manages the whole e-learning will have to remember to update that segment as well based on the original video file.

let me know your thoughts! Thanks!

If you didn't have any interactivity, that is OK. You didn't specify that, but mp4 means just video. Wondering also about the extension: were those cpvc or cptx files?
