i reported this bug and it was replicated by the adobe tech support guys so i thought it'd be worth sharing it here as well:

Product : Captivate
Product Version : 3.0.0 b580
Operating System : Windows XP
OS version : SP2
Steps to reproduce bug:
1. start new project with all defaults on a clean install.
2. insert / flash video / select a file with extension in CAPS (eg
goatse.FLV)
3. publish the file to SWF (all defaults) and the resulting file will
not play the FLV. however do the same as all the above but use a lower
case ext, (eg .flv) and it all works fine!
Results: the resulting file will not play the video.
Expected results: video playback should be independant on the case of
the file name.

cheers

ps : the "fix" is keep all your file names lowercase! :)

Please report bugs to Adobe at: Text This forum is volunteer based and not monitored by Adobe, which is part of the reason why there are bugs that are not fixed.

Is this a bug? You did not say that you were on a desktop or a network. Are you on a network? Certain networks such as Apache are case sensitive. My servers are Apache and case does matter on my servers.

If this problem is on a desktop machine, then perhaps it is a bug and perhaps you can report that to the page above. Some programmers will use UCase string properties to make sure that upper or lower case will not matter in program execution.

Please report-back your findings to this board so that others can benefit from your "experiments."
