Continue To Work On Classic Projects

When I Open my projects I'm getting this message, "This project will be updated to the latest version of Captivate. Once the project is upgraded, you cannot open the project in a previous version of Captivate. We recommend that you take a backup of the project before saving it."

I have questions:

  1. How do I "take a backup of the project"? Until now, I backup on SharePoint or OneDrive.
  2. Will the back up open and save without being updated to the latest version?
  3. Is there a way to save without the project being updated?

I'm on a Mac running Ventura, if that makes a difference.

Thanks

    Captivate is 11.5.5.678

    Captivate Classic is 11.8.3.6

Is it possible to save a project I'm working on in 11.5 without the project being updated to 11.8 when I try to save it?

If you are running Captivate 11.8 you will not be able to save changes made to an 11.5 project file unless you agree to the update.  There was quite a big change between those two versions

    1. How do I "take a backup of the project"? Until now, I backup on SharePoint or OneDrive. - Before opening the Captivate file, duplicate it. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONOo1ttz1VM) Name the duplicate file with the word NEW in it.
    2. Will the back up open and save without being updated to the latest version? Yes, because you have done nothing to the original.
    3. Is there a way to save without the project being updated? I am not sure why you would want to do this, but I guess you could reinstall the previous version of Captivate if you still have the file.

    1. Duplicating and adding NEW to the file name didn't solve my problem; I still get the message about updating the project when I try to save the duplicated file.

    2. Because of the issue in point 1, point 2 isn't possible.

    3. I don't wan't the project to update as it needs to be shared with users who use the old version of Captivate.

What version of Captivate are you using? "All New 2024" or the most recent version of Classic?
