Convert HTML5 to EXE

We have stopped published our courses to the EXE format due to the removal of FLASH in browsers.  Is there a way, perhaps even through a 3rd party software, to take all the files created when publishing as HTML5 and package it into a single EXE?  This would simplify having  people review the course.  I believe it would also allow a course to be (easily?) loaded to a web page.  (Not in my skill set but I have been told there are challenges loading all the different components and folders of HTML5 rather than the single item of an EXE.)  We want the full interactivity of the course so publishing it as a video isn't a good solution in this case.

    To run reliably, HTML5 content needs to be run from inside a web server environment.  Captivate does this by spinning up a temporary localhost web server to Preview HTML5 and show your project as it would work from an LMS or server.

     

    Though it might be technically possible for someone to package everything including your HTML5 module and the web server somponents into an EXE, I know of no easy way to achieve this at the moment.  I am hoping that Adobe is also working on the problem for the next version of Captivate, which will certain not be able to publishe to SWF anymore. 

     

    However,  even apart from the SWF issue, EXE content runs into lots of other roadblocks nowadays because almost all organisations have quite strict antivirus software protecting their email and communication networks.  Distributing EXEs has always been difficult for this reason.  Even once you have the EXE's on someone's PC, they may not have Admin privileges on their PC that would allow them to execute the EXE and play the content.   Given the issues, I would not be surprised if EXE output is also not present in the next version.

    Thanks for the thoughts and reply, Rod.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Adobe will work on this.  I have seen it done with another tool so was hoping there would be a more common/accessable solution out there that I haven't found yet.
