Hello all,
I need a little help with an importing problem. I've used Captivate for about 1 year and a half and gotten to be pretty strong in my knowledge but this one i just can't seem to figure out. I created several captivate projects with no problem using my laptop and Vista as my OS, I am also running Office 2007.

Well, I want to edit these Captivate projects now but I everytime I go to import a modified powerpoint is get this message "Could not open ppt file" Has anyone else seen this message and do you have a solution?

Just a guess but Office 2007 has some different treatment of file-types. Instead of PPT as the default file-type, Office 2007 uses PPTX. Have you tried using the "Save As" function to specifically save the changed Power Point file as a (legacy format) PPT?

Larry
P.S. Sorry about the problem, but it's nice to see a first-time poster join the Captivate User Community, Lee. Welcome aboard!!

Yes I have but still no luck. i have uninstalled and re-installed Cap3 but still no luck. Funny thing is when running Cap3 under vmware and using office 2007 I was able to do it. The OS I use under vmware is xp. But again, i was previously able to open ppt files in Cap3 under vista

Say all, I had the same issue and found that if you have very long PowerPoint filenames Captivate chokes.

So I changed my filename to test.ppt and it loaded first time.

Stupid bug on Adobe's part but didn't they buy this app from someone?
