Cp3 & Vista - Hangs on Generate Slides

I unfortunately have Vista Business on my machine, along with Cp3 and am working with a file created using Cp2.
I've made some edits, and am about to record narration, but want to preview the SWF for pacing first.
I'm trying to publish an SWF with HTML to my local machine, but the app hangs when generating slides - according to the progress bar, it's all done - and I can't do anything but X out of the screen or hit Cancel - which cancels the whole procedure.
I have restarted twice and am not having any success.
Any advice or suggestions?
I'm under the gun to get a number of tutorials done by the end of the week - and most will be created in Cp2!
Cheers,
Cam

Cam, you might try changing compatibility mode for Captivate 3. I don't know if it will help, but it might be worth a try. To do so, go to the Captivate shortcut icon and right-click it. Select the Properties menu item, and look at the Compatability tab. From that tab you should be able to change the startup for Captivate 3 to Windows XP-2 (from the drop-list) ... that may or may not help.

I run Captivate 3 on a Vista desktop and a XP laptop, and can vouch that *something* is wrong with the CP3 version on my Vista desktop. In my case, every time I begin a recording, the MSI installer wants to install Captivate ... again and again. I can cancel out of that, and then the recording goes just fine.

But I sympathize with your plight ~ I don't know if it is Captivate 3 itself, or the installer used with the CS3 programs from Adobe (many seem to have problems), but I do know that Captivate 3 is not at all completely ready for the Vista OS. Good luck.

Last thought: None of this is to detract from what jbradely88 suggested with regard to permissons issues, but is offered *in addition to* that suggestion.

    Hi Cam,

I can't say I use Vista myself, but perhaps there is a permissions issue preventing Captivate from writing to the directory?

I'm thinking there might be a conflict between the user privileges for the Captivate executable and the user privileges of the target folder you're trying to publish to.
